I rounded up my “Stars” however my rating was more like 2 1/2. We were excited to make this reservation marking our Weddjng Anniversary and doing something authentic in New Orleans. I carefully read the reviews and thought, ok let’s do this.
Overall, the boat ride was nice, typical boat ride. with narrated history during the 1st leg. Previous reviews recommended bringing a jacket; great advise!
We purchased the boat ride w/meal ticket. Adding the meal is approx $40 more. For the money, it definitely wasn’t worth it. Meal consisted of salad, cold rolls, cup of chicken/sausage gumbo w/rice …all served table side. Buffet, staff served, included baked chicken, pasta w/shrimp pieces, green beans, and potato fingers. Dessert, bread pudding, was served table side.
Our biggest issue was the dinner service …THE ABSOLUTE WORST. Prior tk boarding, you’re given a ticket and time for dinner. We showed up a few minutes early to get in line. Dinner was supposed to start at 745..long story shorter, they were not ready or prepared. Some tables were missing water, others missing salads, others missing utensils. Well, we were lucky to have all of the above but did not had a waiter. No one took drink orders, we had to stop staff to see what the process was., when you get in line, what’s next etc.
We over heard one waitress tell the table next to us, one that she was waiting on, that they didn’t expect so many people. This was crazy because they sold tickets.
The dining area staff (some appeared to be managers, seating people) were not friendly or welcoming. One of the ladies was actually the person that provided the meal time tickets during on-boarding …not friendly as we on-boarded or during dinner seating.
I am extremely disappointed that this was the selection that we made to mark our anniversary. It wasn’t worth the money or time …thankfully my husband and I are able to find bright lights, one another, in not so good situations.
The gift shop was a joke …immediately turned off when I entered, nothing inviting whatsoever. They also have a snack bar and bar on board. I will say, I had one of the best ginger ales that I’ve had in sometime. Nacho and cheese …cheese was cold, great jalapeños…my husband shared that the staff in the snack bar area were nice and had great customer service.
That’s it, that’s all for now. Hopefully this helps someone ….maybe it was just a bad day for the crew. BTW, the Natchez was taking a rest, we were on the New Orleans
