This was such an excellent tour in so many ways: I called in the morning and was able to book a tour for the same afternoon with no trouble. Marcia, our tour guide, texted in advance to check about mobility issues and dietary restrictions, as well as tell us where to meet. She was so lovely, friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the market and all the businesses we stopped at. I am vegetarian and we had another person with dietary restrictions in our group, and Marcia was extremely careful and considerate about ensuring there were options for both of us and that we got to enjoy everything.
We managed to fit in 11 tastings, even on a busy Sunday afternoon. Everything was EXCELLENT and the samosas were the best I've ever had. I learned so much about the story of the market and the people who helped it grow and flourish. Of course we also saw the stand where they toss the fish and where the diner scene from Sleepless in Seattle was shot, as well.
I try to take a food tour in whatever city I'm visiting and this one is absolutely one of the best. The icing on the cake is that Marcia sent a written summary in an email later listing all the places we stopped and what we had so we could return and wouldn't forget anything. Can't recommend it highly enough!! Thank you, Marcia!!!
