Kilauea
Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes on earth and has been continuously erupting since 1974. Here we will explore the East Rift Zone of Kilauea, including Kilauea Crater, Pu’u O’o Vent and it’s lava flows that are currently entering the Pacific Ocean. The tour will then fly north up the windward side of the island passing Hilo town, the wettest town on earth and the heavenly Hamakua Coast. Then we will whisk you up north to explore the seven windward valleys of Kohala. First stop is the windward side of the Kohala Mountains where we will fly the coastline of Waipio Valley and then move westward to Waimanu Valley. Waimanu can experience annual rainfall of up to 200 inches, fueling 1500+ ft waterfalls, some of the tallest in all of Hawaii.

We booked a full island tour with Mauna Loa Helicopter the Pilot was Jonus. He was the best we flew all over the island and saw some of the most beautiful sites and got told some really good information about the big island the day after we got to the big island the lava started flowing and we got to see that first hand because of the chopper tour Jonas you are the greatest every one loved the ride I would strongly advise that you book a tour with Mauna Loa Helicopters. Thank You Jerry,Kelly,Cassidy,Kennedy.

The entire experience - from planning to execution - was perfect. Natalie was incredibly helpful and responsive in planning the tour. She helped us decide which tour to take and whether to go doors off or on, and she even gave us ginger candies to take along in case of stomach upset (not needed, but thoughtful). Our pilot Jonas, was very competent and personable. You can tell the pilots are very well trained (the company is more well known for pilot training, which gave us great confidence). We did the full island tour and it was spectacular. Just the two of us and Jonas. We saw lava, waterfalls, ocean, cattle, canyons, etc, etc, etc. This was the highlight of our trip.
