This tour is designed to showcase the unique colors of the Smoky Mountains in the fall. The peak colors change from year to year but we always try to track down the areas where the most color can be found. This tour runs only from October through mid November. Along the way you will see a lot of the local area inside and outside of the park. Your guide will give you a lot of information along the way about the history and heritage of the local area and its people. The route can change from day to day based on the guides intuition and the areas where color may be most likely. Tree color isn't always going to cooperate in the earlier part of the month, please bear this in mind when choosing your date. Even on those days when color isn't easily found however, we show you some of the most amazing views and regale you with stories and history. This tour is a full 5 hours of sights, stories, and views that can't be missed.

I have mixed feelings about this tour. I was expecting a little bit more of stops for taking the pictures. I know that the weather didn't cooperate at all. There was almost no changed colors of the trees yet. We were passing spots where in my opinion we could take some good pictures. During 5 hour tour we've stopped only 3 times for pictures, 2 times for bathroom and one time for food. We were constantly watching a lot of videos about Smoky Mountain Park. The videos were very good, but I could do it at home in Chicago. If you will be on this tour try to push the driver harder for more stops. Maybe that was our mistake sitting quiet... The tour guide had very good knowledge of the region and nature. RomanP

We went the third week in October and saw some trees turn but missed the peak by a couple of weeks. The trip was still informative but we were disappointed to reach Clingman's Dome lookout but not be able to climb to the observation tower there because of time constraints. The traffic was so heavy that by the time we reached the dome we had to start back. We had assumed we'd stop and do the observation tower but the driver said that even stopping is not guaranteed.

The tour started on time, the driver waited for everyone and then we took off! This tour provided great views everywhere we drove. The driver, Bob, was the best tour guide ever!! This tour is educational, but not slow or boring in any way. We had multiple stops for pictures/eating and two stops for hiking!! (Optional) The weather was perfect and the leaves just started to change. Highly recommend this trip!
