The black history of the region was very interesting. It was a vibrant community with the blacks helping blacks. Then the riots happened and ruined a good community. We felt like it wasn’t a good value because the food did not justify the high cost. I understand the Ben’s is historical but half smoked dog, bottled water and a bag of chips wasn’t that good. Ethiopian Food and Cuban pastries were thoroughly enjoyed by all. The ice cream was ice cream , not really historical or ethnic.

Dear Linda, Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the historical aspect of the tour. We're glad the knowledge about the neighborhood resonated with you. Our value comes not just from the actual tastings, but also in this curated content that you enjoyed; additionally, it is our mission to support our local business by paying full price and tipping our servers at each restaurant partner, and providing a donation from each ticket sale to our charity partner, Bread for the City. Each donation feeds a DC resident in need three full meals. Your participation in our tour played a significant role in giving back to our community, and for that, we sincerely thank you.

Sonata was terrific guide--full of historical info and fun facts. In addition to great food, we heard a wonderful series of stories from the African American Civil War historian. Ethiopian food was my highlight, along with amazing history of Ben's Chili Bowl.
