We enjoyed our tour of the Valley of Fire with Love Hikes. Our guide, Nick, took us off the beaten path, which we appreciated - it felt like we were the only people in the whole park as we trekked through the valley. There’s so much to explore! Nick showed us fun spots for pics, small caves and crevices, and overlooks and plateaus. The hike wasn’t difficult at all (we chose a moderate hike but most of it was fairly easy), and it was fun to scramble around the rocks. Nick was also very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the valley. We eventually made it to the end of a known trail that had prehistoric petroglyphs from the indigenous peoples that inhabited the valley long ago (ancestors of Paiute tribe I think he said). It wasn’t until the very end that we saw other people. It was great to get away from the Strip, and I wish the hike lasted longer so we could explore more, but we were running out of daylight and the park closes at sunset. While it’s possible to explore the Valley of Fire without a guide, we liked being guided by someone who wasn’t going to get lost and was able to share info about the history and nature of the area. Thanks Nick!
