I'm visiting Las Vegas for a conference, and I really wanted to get outside and off the strip over the weekend, but didn't want to spend all day on a bus trekking out to the Grand Canyon or other destinations. I found this tour and it was the perfect alternative - amazing scenery and only about an hour away from the city.
I can't believe Valley of Fire state park is not more popular/it was never recommended to me before. The hike was absolutely beautiful and really fun - I did the moderate hike, so there as a good bit of scrambling up sandstone and it definitely got my heart rate up, which was great. Our guide Laura was awesome - she was very informative and entertaining, pointed out all of the cool photo ops, and snapped lots of pictures!
It was definitely worth going out there with a guide, as we were able to go off trail without worrying about getting lost, take in the views from great vantage points, and get interesting info about the wildlife/plants/history of the area that I wouldn't have learned otherwise.
