Village Nights: Greenwich Village Food Crawl

Обзор
A rare evening Food Crawl, Village Nights is designed for people who want to walk and talk and eat in one of the most influential neighborhoods on earth.

Village Nights starts at Astor Place and often stops at the oldest bar in the city, but no matter where we go, we’ll eat great food and weave together the narrative of this truly incredible place.

BUT this is not your normal food tour. We don't follow a fixed route. Instead the experienced, licensed guide will get the pulse of the group (max 8 participants) and draw from a big bag of options to make each experience a little more personal, memorable, and unique.

We’re licensed, professional guides who are always learning more about New York. That’s how we can run organic events that are less scripted and more like an eclectic group of friends out for a food crawl in the city.

Wear comfortable clothes and be prepared to walk. We cover a lot of ground and often eat standing up.

Astor Place
We start at the historical heart of Manhattan, Astor Place, where the Lenape congregated for hundreds of years before the arrival of Europeans. THIS IS A SAMPLE ITINERARY. We take input from the group, then draw from a big bag of options to make each outing unique.
2
McSorley's Old Ale House
Start with a cheese plate and a beer at McSorley's - the oldest continuously operating bar in New York. Abe Lincoln drank here, and the place is absolutely dripping with curios and artifacts, since nothing's been removed from the walls since 1910.
3
Washington Square Park
Most tours blast through Washington Square, but we spend a little more time relaxing and learning the remarkable history of one of America's most important city parks.
4
Winston Churchill Square
Churchill Square is a magical little park that almost every visitor and local walks right past. We'll stop and hang out for just a few minutes. Vibes.
5
Stonewall National Monument
Whether we drop in for a drink or stop in Christopher Park to soak up the vibe, the Stonewall is a must-visit in the West Village. Now a national monument, the Stonewall was the site of a pivotal 1969 uprising that galvanized the modern gay rights movement. One of many extremely influential cultural spots we'll visit in the West Village.
6
Marie's Crisis
We end the night at Marie's Crisis Cafe is a delightful subterranean bar where you can sing along with a live piano player to your favorite show tunes. It's a great visit, even if Broadway isn't your thing.

This was a great tour. 3 hours walking and learning the the history of the village & NYC. We had about 5 stops for food, including tacos, pizza & falafel and a stop at the oldest coolest bar in the village. Morgan was a fun informative guide he focused on our interest, which was great since only 2 of us were on the tour. Highly recommended a great way to spend an autumn night in NYC with a friendly enthusiastic guide.

If you like seeing things up close, sights and sounds you might otherwise miss (or might be intimidated trying to dive in and get acquainted with) then this tour should be on your list! We visit New York when we can to soak up the bigness and smallness of it. We of course dig the grandness of Central Park, enjoying a Broadway show, feeling the Times Square's energy, and checking out attractions like the Edge Sky Deck or walking the Highline. But come on, this is one of the most densely populated places in the world. It's where you can easily and effectively contrast the big stuff that got you here, with the granular, street level stuff. Does experiencing the character of a Manhattan neighborhood appeal to you? This may be your flash pass. It was for us. When I saw this walking tour's description and sample itinerary on Viator it was an instant yes! The booking was easy, the communication clear and prompt, the instructions easy to follow. We met Morgan our guide at the designated, easy-to-find and get-to location and we instantly clicked. He quizzed us on things we might want to include, and from there was a delight to walk and talk with, listen and learn from, and enjoy the dynamics of life in the West Village from someone who has curated a wealth of knowledge about, well...everything? The food stops were fun, varied, tasty, and tailored to our liking. There you are, exploring places you might otherwise walk by in the inevitable "travelers uncertainty" one has when visiting a new place and not quite knowing what you're looking at. We covered so much during our time together—visually and verbally exploring everything...from historically significant places, stories of some of the people and icons who had a hand in shaping the place, right down to the nitty-gritty of the area and street we were on, all while bouncing amongst those that call it home. It was comfortable, casual, and probably not something you'd effectively accomplish trying to do it on your own. The time flew by! Be bold, you're in New York..consider this tour.

Morgan as awesome - he's super go-with-the-flow, so we got to explore different areas and go to hole in the wall places. He had such cool information, not just about the history of the locations, but about random graffiti on the street and anecdotes about the areas. It was a really fun tour, I would definitely do another tour with him!
