We booked this 2 hour snorkelling trip departing off Waikiki Beach through our hotel, The Alohilani. Great time!
There were about 18 passengers and three crew members, Issac, Ka’ao (very sorry if I have your name wrong, Captain), and Mason. All very polite and considerate fellows that really took care of us all.
The Captain was extremely careful to navigate through all the swimmers and surfers to and from Turtle Canyon. All three staff members were very helpful in preparing the snorkellers and Mason was especially helpful in helping us on and off the boat. Very kind crew members, some of us inexperienced participants really needed that help.
It was especially reassuring to have Isaac in the water with us at all times with his paddle board. You could hold onto it if you needed a rest or some guidance.
We saw a turtle on the surface even before we all got our gear on. Lots of turtles and fish swimming around the reef that we anchored close to. Just a wonderful two hour excursion.
There were several other excursions anchored close by but there was easily enough space for everyone.
Important point to note and we were told about this ahead of time, bring your own water and snacks. None were available on board. Not a big concern. The excursion provided masks, snorkels, fins and flotation belts. Really all you need. Our hotel concierge gave us a list of all we should bring. Thank you, Lori.
Also, if you can secure a waterproof fish identification card that attaches to your wrist with a rubber band before heading out it will enhance your snorkelling experience. So many beautiful fish but it would be nice to be able to identify the names. I believe these cards are available at local dive shops.
All in all, a wonderful experience and well worth the money.
