Went to Washington as a day trip from New York. Its a 4 hour journey each way with a comfort break stop over roughly half way and around a 5-6 hour stay in Washington. You get to visit Arlington cemetery, Lincoln Memorial, The Smithsonian museum, the White house and Capitol Hill (just the outsides of the last two) Its a whistle-stop tour but it gives you a taster of the US Capitol, but was a 06.30 start to around a 20.00 (8pm) arrival back into New York, I can imagine that it may be a long and tiring day for some people The guides spoke several languages between them and were very proficient in their knowledge of the nations capitol.
