3 Hour Private Tour with a Local Native ( Price up to 5)

Преглед
Tour with a born and raised local Alaskan Native. Learn about my culture and some history of Ketchikan. Hear about our medicinal and edible plants, how we gather and process the plants. I come from a family background of artists; my grandfather James Edenshaw helped carve Totem Bight, my brother James Edenshaw is a Tlingit Master Carver, my Uncle George Lewis Jr. was a Tlingit Code talker, and my mother did bead work. If you're interested in my culture, I bring customers to one of four locations to see Totem Poles. These beautiful monumental carvings may symbolize or commemorate ancestors, cultural beliefs, clan lineage or events. Wildlife plays a role in many Alaskan stories. Ketchikan is home to a variety of animals, including bears, eagles, deer, wolves and mountian goats. Salmon is a huge part of our economy, with five species making Ketchikan the Salmon Capital of the world. Ketchikan is the first city on the Inside Passage of Southeast Alaska. Explore my home with me on a tour.

As we drive along Tongass Narrows, we will be making stops for picture opportunities and making your memories last. Salmon Ladder is a great attraction during the spawn of the salmon. It will remind you of watching Discovery Channels. Potlatch Park is a replica of a native village, locally owned and operated by a Tshimpshian/Haida family. Due to weather conditions the captain of the cruise needed to cancel the stop in Ketchikan (Ward Cove). As the announcement came about 14 hour before the start of the excursion we couldn’t.cancel anymore. Tried by contact Viator, but they said sore the booking is already closed. So contacted the Lisa from the excursion. But the answer was that we need to ask the cruise company. Of course this is not how it works if you book your excursion by yourself. Yes, you take a risk by booking by yourself, that’s why you need to cancel at least 24 hours before. But if the captain cancel the port last minute, then I should be normal that you can cancel. Tour companies also can cancel last minute when weather condition are worse. Still hope aviator or the tour company will refund us.

We have had an amazing tour with Lisa today as part of our Alaskan adventure! Within 30 minutes of meeting us we saw our first bear of the trip! Lisa then drove to another area and sure enough another bear passed by, in time for amazing photo capture! Lisa provided us with lots of detailed information about her area, fun facts and historical detail. The visit to Potlatch Park provided a fascinating insight into times past. This was a memorable tour and we are so grateful to Lisa for sharing so much information with us.
