Each tour is lead by an experienced Navajo guide, who is certified by the Navajo Nation Parks & Recreation Dept. and National Park Service. Each and everyone of our guides was born and raised in this Canyon De Chelly area, allowing them to gain a vast knowledge of its history to share with all our guests who visit this place we call home. As well as learning about the canyon's rich history, rock art sites and other archeological sites, you will hear stories and tales of life in the canyon and get a chance (time permitted and seasonal option) to visit our guide's families who still weave, farm, ranch, and continue to live a traditional Navajo lifestyle in this rural part of the southwest. Canyon de Chelly National Monument

Our guided 4x4 tours into Canyon De Chelly National Monument will be lead by experienced and seasoned guides. On your trip, you will visit many archeological sites that include cliff dwellings of the Ancestral Pueblo, rock art panels (both pictograph and petroglyphs) from all past and present inhabitants of Canyon De Chelly, and other historical sites. There will also be many stops for photographic opportunities, restroom stop, and a chance to purchase artwork from local Native artists. Possible stops include visiting a working farm and/or weaving demonstration, only if resident is at their canyon home.

Our Beauty Way guide, Leander, arrived on time, well prepared, and in a clean, well-maintained Jeep. This was our second tour through the canyon which was different than the first. Leander’s knowledge of the canyon history, geology, and people gave a different view of canyon life. This time I began to put pieces together, to understand Canyon de Chelly and its people better. Leander’s presentation facilitated this process. For example, he explained how the canyon sandstone effected the lifespan of the ancient people. He also shared personal stories about himself and his family. He even told us about Spider Soup! (Sorry, you must take his tour and ask him yourself.) Unfortunately, we arrived for the tour distracted and disorganized. Before the tour we discovered we had a flat tire. We weren’t sure how or where to get it fixed. We asked Leander for help. He immediately replied “yes, but let’s do your tour first.” Afterward, Leander got our tire fixed and we were on our way. He was gracious, hospitable, and patient throughout. I would like to take another tour through the canyon. But I’d ONLY consider a Navajo tour company and would give special preference to Beauty Way.

What a great experience!!! Ben, our guide, was wonderful, with so much interesting historical and personal experience to share. The canyon came to life as he talked about the history and movements of the ancients, as well as more recent events. The 3 hours flew by and we would gladly do the same tour again!
