Each tour is lead by an experienced Navajo guide, who is certified by the Navajo Nation Parks & Recreation Dept. and National Park Service. Each and everyone of our guides was born and raised in this Canyon De Chelly area, allowing them to gain a vast knowledge of its history to share with all our guests who visit this place we call home. As well as learning about the canyon's rich history, rock art sites and other archeological sites, you will hear stories and tales of life in the canyon and get a chance (time permitted and seasonal option) to visit our guide's families who still weave, farm, ranch, and continue to live a traditional Navajo lifestyle in this rural part of the southwest. Canyon de Chelly National Monument

Our guided 4x4 tours into Canyon De Chelly National Monument will be lead by experienced and seasoned guides. On your trip, you will visit many archeological sites that include cliff dwellings of the Ancestral Pueblo, rock art panels (both pictograph and petroglyphs) from all past and present inhabitants of Canyon De Chelly, and other historical sites. There will also be many stops for photographic opportunities, restroom stop, and a chance to purchase artwork from local Native artists. Possible stops include visiting a working farm and/or weaving demonstration, only if resident is at their canyon home.

Leander is the perfect guide - he has a long Navajo family history in Chaco, fortified by his mother's career in archeology. He's incredibly well read, and answered so many of our questions with history, native traditions, science and humor. We liked the tour so much that we extended for an hour. We typically don't take tours, but I highly recommend taking this one - it's worth every cent and deepens the Chaco experience in many ways.

Amazing 3 hour tour with Daniel Staley. We had such a great time on this tour with the local navajo guide Daniel everything about it was perfect. The Canyon was beautiful and we got to see lots of petroglyphs and ruins. The jeep was on time and comfortable and Daniel told us about the history and culture of the area. Daniel played the most beautiful flute music for us in the canyon and he sang songs for us in the jeep while we were driving. This is one of the most memorable tours I have been on and I would highly recommend.

This is a perfect time of year to go on this tour. And everything about this tour is perfect. The enclosed jeep is comfortable. The canyon floor is deep sand and this vehicle is up to the challenge. The jeep is high to get over the ruts and this makes it challenging to haul oneself up into the cab. Your guide will assist you. The deep ruts mean you will be jounced around giving an added suspense to your adventure. Being enclosed in the jeep has the advantage of minimizing the dust as you travel. Wear comfortable clothing that can stand up to dust when you get out to explore. Bring your binoculars to zoom in on the ancient pictographs. Listen to the soft rattle of the cottonwood tree leaves. Go in the morning or later in the afternoon when the many colors of the rock walls deepen. You might find yourself mystified by this experience of getting so close to the cliff dwelling ruins and the rock art. Our guide Arica Charley was knowledgeable and joyful. Her stories, which she learned from her grandfather, were rich and lent authenticity to the knowledge she will share with you. Spending a little time at Arica's family compound in the canyon brought the visitor especially close to one of the larger ruins. Bring a tip as a gift for your guide whose sensitive teaching is priceless. Not only will you move through the canyon, but you will be moved.
