We reserved a 9am parasailing adventure and was called the evening before to inform us that the boat needed an oil change so we could choose from an 11am or 1pm option or refund. We really wanted to experience our first parasail so we opted for the 11am. These later time slots cost about $20/person extra but they said they roiling up-charge, so that sort of made up for the inconvenience. We met our Captain Mike and Trey at the H Dock at 1030am, while we waited for the other 2 couples to arrive. We promptly hopped aboard the small speed boat and proceeded to take a 15min ride out to sea.
It was nice to ride out while listening to some music. The staff spoke to us briefly about what to expect. They offered options of photos and/or video (go-pro) for $60 extra (both for $100). We opted for the photos and received about 65-70 shots. Some were good like the closer shots and novelty shots, but the shots where we were high up didn’t work out too well. It would have been better had the camera had telescopic lenses so we could see ourselves in detail. Anyway, they kept us in the air for at least 10 min or so, which was more than I expected. The actual parasailing part was awesome. It was so cool to be in to 400ft up in the sky while looking down into the water and see the beautiful views of Ft Lauderdale. It was so quiet and peaceful up there, which was the opposite of what I expected. It’s definitely a memorable experience for a lifetime. The guys landed up perfectly back in the boat and they were very good at what they do.
We ride back to shore while Captain Mike gave us a small tour and history lesson on some of the houses, celebrities, and events that take place. Overall it was a good experience but I feel it could have been a bit better. One small recommendation to Sea Rocket , would be to have small bottles of water to give the guests. Obviously, it’s very hot in Florida and sitting in the sun for 90 minutes takes a toll on you. It’s a simple, inexpensive detail that would be greatly appreciated.
