Departing from downtown Seward at 6pm, the Coastal Classic Train travels north along the rugged coastline of Turnagain Arm, with dramatic views of the Chugach Mountains plunging directly to the sea. At the end of Turnagain Arm, the tracks veer away from the road system into the backcountry wilderness – and what many consider to be the most scenic stretch of the Alaska Railroad, accessible only by train. Watch for views of massive glaciers, steep river canyons, and cascading waterfalls. The train arrives in Anchorage at 10:15pm.

Awesome scenery. Dining car available as well. 3.5-4 hour trip. I would definitely book this trip again.

Train ride through mountain and waterfall was beautiful good company Never had a issue with them always on time and good customer service

The view was amazing in the glass dome car. We travelled with our 10 year old. Dinner service did not take in consideration of children when they organized when dinner will seve. It was 8:50pm and dinner was not yet available. When we ask if a plate can be brought to the seat for our child, the conductor Vern said he will come back with an menu option. Without asking about dietary restriction, he came back with a plate of food of his choosing and not a menu as asked. When my 10 year old said she could not eat the food, he told her that she will not get any food then. His response was unnecessary and very rude with his mocking tone. The whole car was shocked with his behavior toward a 10 year old child. We paid for gold star service but got terrible inappropriate behavior from a conductor instead.
