The Alcatraz tour was great. The ferry to Alcatraz was good, and the organization at the dock was fine.
However, the communications between Viator and me was poor. EMail links did not work or were circular. EMails saying click this link for tickets did not work. I received a time of departure (12:00PM) in an email saying to arrive 30 minutes before departure time, but no tickets or voucher. Left for Pier 33 early to ask about tickets. Got Alcatraz tickets at dock, but they knew nothing about lunch vouchers. A little before 11:30AM received an email from viator telling me to pick up the travel tickets at the dock (already done) and to print out the lunch vouchers at the hotel before leaving because phone vouchers would not be accepted (no time or place to get the lunch vouchers printed out at this point). Money for lunch vouchers was wasted. Don’t do the meal combo.
In addition, went by the restaurant the voucher was for to see if they could do anything. They could not but their wait time was 1 hour and 45 minutes if we wanted to eat there. So even if we had the vouchers, the restaurant was too crowded to reasonably accommodate us. If would have been great to know typical wait times before making a selection.

Meal vouchers were sent attached to the same email as your Alcatraz group services voucher.
We sent these items out two days prior which gave you plenty of time to review. We even give you 12 places that you can go to print your food voucher!!
You waited until the morning of to look through your emails and asked us to resend to you. Instructions are stated well in advance.
Alcatraz doesn’t issue meal vouchers. They deal with thousands of companies so it is easy to see how they wouldn’t know about your meal.
Lets be honest: It is hard to post wait times for a restaurant. Guests can always go and put their name on a reservation list at any time they wish prior to or after Alcatraz. Having to wait simply is not a reason to give a negative review!
