Pro: The drive was long, but the driver knew the road well. The tour with our Navajo tour guide, Leland through the antelope Canyon was amazing. He was so knowledgeable and patient. He also was a master at taking pictures at just the right place and angle (which he generously did for everyone in our group). This was the highlight of the entire day and the only reason I gave this tour 3 stars. Lunch was good.
Con: The stop at Horseshoe Bend was unimpressive. By the end of our trip I knew more about our drivers life than I wanted. Born in Brooklyn; wife and him not compatible signs, but their moon rising makes it work; stint in the Marines; lived in Ca, NV, NC, and other places. He had several friends named Tye; his decision to move to AZ not supported by all his friends. Hasn’t returned to visit his family in years; didn’t go to his HS reunion; his dog named ‘Nana’; I could go on. He talked the entire trip home after he told us he would play the radio for a relaxing trip home, only answering any questions we may have. He spoke a bit on the outbound trip about the reservation, the hogans and a bit about the formation of the land. I could used a lot more of that kind of info and historical facts vs personal info.
