This trip is a LONG day (10-12hrs) with 6+hrs in the car; I promise it’s worth it though.
Dom was our driver/tour director/local expert and all around entertainment for the day. He was knowledgeable, friendly and very interactive making those long stretches in the car informative and entertaining.
Our morning started at 6am with a hotel pick up, we then went to Cameron trading post for a little shopping and to visit the country’s oldest suspension bridge. Next we stopped at Horseshoe Bend for an hour to explore at your leisure. This walk was over sandy terrain with a gradual decline down to horseshoe bend (which means is a gradual incline uphill back!). Then back into the car for a short 10-15 minute trip to lunch, which was simple but delicious (and price/tip included in your booking). Then it was another short 5 minute trip to switch buses and meet our local Navajo guide (Lydell) for a trip to antelope canyon.
Upper Antelope Canyon was 100% the highlight of the trip, this slot canyon is absolutely breathtaking. Lydell helped with learning a little about the area, history of the canyon and then lended his expertise to make sure everyone got gorgeous pictures of this natural wonder. It is also completely flat bottomed so it’s an easy walk through. A word of warning you will need to wait outside in the heat for a little as the groups before you go into the canyon, and at the end it’s a little bit of an inclined hike (again in the heat) back to the car with metal stairs and ramps to traverse. Once we met back up with Dom and switched back to our first bus, there was a quick drive by of Lake Powell and Glen Canyon Dam and then the long trek back to Sedona.
