The day began at 2:00 PM when our guide, Mike, picked us up from our hotel in Fairbanks. From that point on it was a long day, but what an adventure! As we began the long ride up to the Arctic circle via the Dalton Highway (think Ice Road Truckers), Mike gave us an Alaskan history lesson stopping at highlights along the way; Finger Mountain, Yukon River and several scenic overlooks. Once at the Arctic circle, our group of six had ample time to take photos and contemplate exactly where we were. Mike treated us to snacks and hot cocoa to warm us all up. But, if that wasn't awesome enough, the Aurora Borealis gave us a light show we'll never forget. Mike kept a keen eye out and pulled over whenever the northern lights danced across the sky. Overall, this is an experience that will stay with us for a lifetime.
