I had never done any kind of ghost tour before. Hearing Asheville was known for its odd energy and paranormal activity, I thought it would be a good time to try. I am not sure what exactly I was expecting but it wasn't what I got. The tour is two hours long--doesn't cover a lot of distance--mostly walking a block or two then standing while the guide tells the stories.
There was some historical context at the beginning then four stories told at four different locations. I feel like this should more be marketed as a history/grisly history of Asheville tour rather than a ghost tour. I learned more about the history of Asheville than anything about its ghosts and little to nothing was said about any actual paranormal activity in comparison.
I would recommend reading the book 'Haunted Asheville' or just googling ghost stories in Asheville then checking out the locations yourself. I had already passed by every single one of them while out and about in the couple hours before. You can't/don't go inside anywhere so actually going on the tour doesn't have much benefit aside from being an auditory version of the stories in the books.
Also, it is stated that the tour is 'family friendly'. It is true that it is not scary or spooky but the tour guide does graphically describe death, murder, and the condition of bodies/corpses so keep that in mind when booking based on the ages and temperment of any children.
