A tour for all ages just outside of Boulder (accessible by Taxi, Lyft & Uber). Tours start at sunset and last for 2 hours. The show will explore the night sky with several large telescopes and a laser pointer. We will see and learn about planets, constellations, navigation, satellites, nebula, clusters, galaxies, maybe some shooting stars, and our universe. Through telescopes we will get up close looks at these objects and take in their beauty with our own eyes. The tour takes place at a easy to find trailhead (no hiking required) where phenomenal sunsets and wildlife are often seen. Guests are provided with a red flashlight, comfy camp seating, bug spray, snacks, hot water, tea, instant coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies. Guests are encouraged to bring questions, wonderment, and warm clothing (it can get cool after sunset)

I took this tour because I wanted to see the night sky in a recent Colorado trip, compared to star gazing at home in Florida, with so much light pollution. Luke was a knowledge and enthusiastic guide for the evening. He had at least seven telescopes set up before I arrived, and had seating, hot beverages and snacks set out. He encouraged everyone to look through each scope and explained what they should be seeing. He had a short presentation while we sat and drank cocoa. Throughout the evening he realigned the scope for different views, and let folks move them around some themselves. It was like having your best astrophysicist buddy show you the night sky.

If you are a neophyte this is perfect for you. The “hippie” guide (his words, not mine) was so knowledgeable and humbly passionate about the solar system that we left smarter and in awe. Looking up will never be the same. Dress warmly and bring a blanket if possible because sitting and listening is part of the two hours. Looking through the different telescopes and learning about them was great. We took Lyft and were luck enough to get a ride back to town with other tour people. It’s certainly a little remote so be sure to take your directions. It’s a very interesting tour!

Even though the tour had to be cancelled due to cloud cover, these people handled everything timely, professionally, and fairly. We will book this tour when we visit the area again.
