Originally booked the horseback riding tour, but due to rain on the north side of the island, they had to cancel our originally scheduled outing. We moved it to a couple days later for the morning of our last day in Maui. On our way there we confirmed the ride was still happening, but when we arrived, it had rained again. Horeseback riding was a no-go. The staff was really cool about it, they explained that they were worried about the safety of inexperienced riders in the slippery conditions and felt it was best to cancel the ride. They offered us either a refund or the ATV tour instead. We figured, why not ATV, we were already there. So glad that we did it. We had a blast. The ATVs are top of the line, easy to use for any level rider. They loaded us up with drinks, gave us rain ponchos to keep dry and we were off.
We went up the mountain, along the way the guide collected passion fruits for us to snack on later. When we got to the look out to the valley of tears, we had plenty of time to take pictures and snack on the fresh fruit we picked up. The valley was beautiful and as the clouds lifted you could see the waterfalls. It was back on down the mountain and to the coast line. The views going towards the water were breathtaking. The trail was quite fun b/c it was muddy, you felt like a kid splashing in big mud puddles.
Overall a great experience. Highly recommend doing the tour, either on ATV or horseback. The staff and owners are really nice people who made our safety and enjoyment their top priority.
