Nathan is a professional portrait photographer by trade, which is something you’d be hard pressed to find on any other Aurora tour in the Fairbanks area. He has 9 years experience as an engagement/wedding photographer. Other tours offer “free portraits” but not to the level of expertise that Nathan will provide, he uses controlled supplemental studio lighting to achieve unmatched quality and sharpness with techniques he developed over 7 years of painstaking practice, specifically in aurora portraiture. We also provide you with complementary gear to help keep you warm and safe: insulated over boots, hand/toe warmers, headlamps, ice crampons for traction, water bottles etc. But what everything boils down to is great photos. The photos speak for themselves and we want to get you some of your OWN!! Not only will you have a top tier photographer as a guide but Nathan also has more than 20 years of Alaska backcountry artic survival skills and offers expertise in all things Alaska adventure.

2x on this tour. First in Dec ‘24, second in March ‘25. Yes, it’s that good. Nate is an excellent guide, the pizza is legit, and the pictures are amazing.

Our aurora tour with Nathan was truly magical. He shared his vast knowledge and helped us capture stunning photos. But what made the night unforgettable was when my boyfriend proposed under the breathtaking display of the Northern Lights. Nathan was incredibly accommodating and thoughtful, ensuring everything was perfect for the surprise. His passion and warmth made the tour feel like a personal adventure. I highly recommend Nathan’s tour for a memorable experience!

This is my second adventure with Nathan. He is an exceptional owner/leader for this experience. Goes above and beyond what he says to make for a great trip! We were WARM in the safely heated shelter, pizza is amazing! There is nothing we lacked for. The activities while waiting for the Aurora were fun. It’s a small group, and we got to know others on the trip. He taught 2 of us how to use our cameras to photograph the Lights. Both of our sets of pictures turned out fantastic. Plus we had his to add to our collection. Cannot recommend this enough. We will definitely be back for another round.
