Wonderful tour! We like to start our trips with a brief overview of the city’s history & good food, so we are big fans of food tours. This was no different & Zachary was absolutely wonderful. Great anecdotal stories of how businesses started, wonderful history of Austin and then the food. Good gracious. We ate so much…from the velvet taco to the best cookie I may have had in my life. Wonderful way to spend our first afternoon in Austin.

After a wonderful food tour in Denver,CO, we were excited to go on another tour, but were extremely disappointed with how this tour went. Below you’ll find the very few pros of this tour: - our tour guide was friendly - easy walking - enjoyed tour guide’s recommendations that were provided to us after the tour Now, for what wasn’t great about this tour: - extremely little historical knowledge about the city provided. Only thing we learned was that 1 hotel was haunted and that there is a statue of Willie Nelson. Also, a building kind of looks like an owl due to a bank’s logo. - ALL CHAIN RESTAURANTS. Not a SINGLE restaurant is a downtown-Austin exclusive. While some are Texas chains, 2 of the 6 can be found outside of Texas!!! Incredibly saddened that our tour was spent at places I didn’t even have to be in Austin to enjoy. Places include: Voodoo Donuts, Velvet Taco, Gloria’s, Desano’s, Cooper’s BBQ, and Taco Deli. - Drink upgrade package was not worth it. Only got 2 drinks. - 4/6 restaurants served Hispanic food. While delicious, 2 tacos, a tamale, and a churro donut was overkill for only a 3 hour tour. - there were no reservations at the places for our group. We had to walk back and forth when places were less busy and had long wait times. Due to this, all of our group was unable to sit together and seating was hard to find. If you’re coming to Austin and looking for something to do, pass on this because paying $20 per stop for $5 of food and nothing else wasn’t worth it.
