Voted by the Austin Chronicle 2022 Critic's Choice "Best Nightlife Activity." In the year 1885 America’s first serial killer stalked the streets and alleyways of the young, emerging city of Austin. More terrifying than any ghost story, this monster brutally and systematically hacked eight women to death using an ax. For one calendar year, he terrified a city and came to be known as the “midnight assassin”. He was never captured and his identity remains a mystery or does it...?

This tour is our longest at 1 hour 45 minutes and covers 2 miles of historic Austin including West 6th street, Guy Town, the Warehouse District and a drink stop at the iconic Driskill Hotel. The pace is leisurely and, in addition to a drink stop at the Driskill, (drinks not included), there are short rests along the journey.

Join us on this exceptional true crime walking tour investigating exact crime locations and the various theories surrounding the midnight assassin. It’s a “killer” tour.

Took wife and family as part of 55th birthday celebration. We’re Buzz Feed, CSI, and Forensic Files junkies. We we’re not disappointed, Jim (owner/tour guide) has a fantastic mind for history and a charismatic story telling nature. He feeds bits and bits of Austin’s notorious murder history as you walk to many of the spots the murders happened and even stand on the spots where the bodies were found. Macabre but super cool! Be ready to walk, most of the tour is on a small grade up or down as Downtown Austin isn’t flat and you end the tour a bit of a distance from where you begin but none of it is ever unmanageable. They have a spooky variant and that’s definitely on my families list now. Thanks Jim, great time!!

Great history on a little known serial killer that lurked around Austin and maybe somewhere overseas that was a little more famous and well known around the 1890's. I don't want to spoil it. Great tour and fun history.

We did the Murder Walk tour last night and it was fantastic! My husband and I are both locals in Austin, had heard about this series of murders (because I’m a true crime junkie), and decided this would be a fun/different thing to do on a Saturday night. Jim was our tour guide and he is incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining! He gave us very detailed accounts of the murders that took place in 1885, along with many fun and interfaces about Austin’s architecture, people and history. He was able to answer all questions the group had for him. The tour is 105 minutes, with a stop for drinks at the Driskill (where you also may be told a good ghost story). If you’re into the darker side of history and enjoy being thoroughly entertained, I HIGHLY recommend this tour, and this tour company in general!
