Aurora Camp is located on a hilltop near Murphy Dome, a top Northern Lights viewing spot near Fairbanks, favored by Aurora photographers. The cabin sits in an area with wide-open views, free from light pollution or any obstructions, offering a full panoramic view of the Northern Lights. Relax in a cozy Alaskan-style cabin with six large windows providing over 180° of stunning views while enjoying hot chocolate in comfort.

Tour Options:
* With transfer (pickup and drop-off): Available from all Fairbanks and North Pole hotels, Airbnbs, etc.
* No transfer: Drive your rental car to the cabin. The roads are well-maintained and in good condition.

David and Joy were great hosts. They picked us upon time from our hotel in a large, warm shuttle van and when we arrived, they quickly took us to see the aurora (we had intermittent clouds, which soon covered the lights) so we had our own photos as well as terrific group shots before the cloud cover took over (obviously not their fault). The cabin was large with generous snacks and tables/sofas to relax and warm up. We had a great time despite the limited viewing!

Joy and Casie are terrific - so kind and helpful! They got some great pictures of us with the aurora in the background. The cabin is comfortable with lots of tasty snacks. We had a wonderful experience.

Not the cabin's fault that there were clouds that obscured aurora activity. That is an issue with ANY cabin - you can't move to an area with clear skies. Though I did read about other tours that offered to drive some place else under these conditions. Poor rating is for the lack of any value add. No educational discussion about the aurora or really any engagement at all from the hosts. Talked with people who went to other cabins and heard about all the things they learned and that their hosts offered to stay an extra 30 minutes past the end time since there hadn't been much to see that night. Instead our hosts took a minute long photo exposure and tried gaslight us that this was a success and started pushing us out 15 minutes early! Got nothing that I couldn't have for free if I just drove to a turnout somewhere on the highway. Not even comfort - only enough comfortable seating (couches) for about 1/3 of the visitors, rest of us were on wooden dining chairs.

Dear Dan, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We understand how disappointing it can be when the aurora is obscured by clouds, and we truly wish we could control the weather to ensure a perfect experience for every guest. To clarify, our tour is based at a cabin, not a van tour that drives around in search of clear skies. While some operators may choose to move locations, this is only effective if there is a significant break in cloud cover within a reasonable distance. On the night of your visit, the entire area was under cloud cover, and unfortunately, moving elsewhere would not have increased the chances of seeing the aurora. Regarding the tour duration, we always aim to provide the best possible experience for our guests. If we see signs that the weather may improve, we are more than happy to extend the waiting time, as we have done many times before. However, on that particular night, the clouds were increasing, and based on our experience, there was no indication that conditions would improve. Rather than keeping guests waiting indefinitely with little chance of success, we made the difficult decision to conclude the tour. As for seating, we provide a mix of cushioned couches and solid chairs to accommodate different preferences. Some guests prefer the firmer support of wooden chairs, while others prefer the softness of couches. We try to offer options so that everyone can find something comfortable, but we understand that preferences vary. We appreciate your feedback and regret that your experience did not meet your expectations.
