We did the Hanalei tour. The food was good, but it seemed pretty expensive for the amount we were given. (We left the tour and immediately went to get more food).
I'd hoped to hear from chefs or local farmers, but there was none of that. Didn't feel like we got the inside scoop or like we connected with locals... just like we hung out with someone who'd visited the area before and had some recommendations.
The tour guide was super nice, we really liked her. She was organized, courteous, and friendly. She didn't feel like she was an expert though. More like an acquaintance sharing second hand stories, or maybe what she'd learned just before from a quick google search. We were hoping this would feel like a educational/cultural experience from an authoritative source.
