The Views were wonderful. It was cold but the tour provided warm parkas, gloves and ski pants. Dinner was a delicious veggie sandwich, however there were no chips or brownies to go with the sandwich.
Our rating is a reflection of a missed opportunity on the part of our guide. We learned all about his history (born, raised, education, family) and the company. However, the commentary on Hawaii and Mauna Kea was very light. It is a 50+ minute ride from the last pickup to the visitors center. The guide “didn’t want to bore us with constant chatter” so he gave us “our time”. During this time he chatted away with the front seat passenger. The ride home was longer because there was no commentary at all. This would have been a wonderful opportunity for the guide to share Hawaiian folk lore, history, topography. It was a missed opportunity on the guide’s part. It felt like a long ride with a small payout for a lot of money.
The guide also spoke poorly about other tours on the island, one of which we had done and loved.
