I never would have believed such diversity existed within a stone's throw of Manhattan. As we visited different neighborhoods in Brooklyn, our guide introduced us to the history, tastes, customs and lifestyles of the people residing there. I felt like I had stepped into another country. I was cognizant of being a foreigner in my own homeland but was grateful that such diversity was acknowledged, respected and embraced in the tour. The food was as genuine as it gets in both taste and venue! The guide imparted a wealth of information and laced it with interesting anecdotes and occasional humor. If you take the tour in mid-winter, you are more apt to find smaller groups and consequently more intimate interactions and modes of transportation. Dress for the weather! It is a "taste" of Brooklyn you don't want to miss.
