Just rode the GAP with 2 Wheel Escapes (2WE) providing shuttle service, support and gear. The 3 night/4 day adventure started in Cumberland, MD where they picked us up and shuttled us to downtown Pittsburgh. Once in Pittsburgh they provided a short orientation and some snacks, and then led our group of 21 cyclists for about 2 miles to where the trail becomes easier to follow. We then rode another 30 miles the first day to a nice campsite in West Newton where 2WE provided more snacks, drinks, and a cooked dinner. The next morning 2WE was up bright and early getting coffee and a cooked breakfast ready for everyone. Before we headed out each day they provided us with a cheat sheet of things to look out for on the trail, and Greg (the co-owner with Rhona) even spent some time working on bikes for anyone who needed it. The second day comprised 52 miles to Confluence where they provided the same support, and the third and fourth days, to Meyersdale and Cumberland respectively, were shorter rides of about 32 miles (the last day being mostly downhill) with the same great support.
Can't say enough about the hard work Greg, Rhona and the crew put in to making sure we all had a good time on the trip. Greg is very professional and knowledgeable, but he's also just a fun guy to be around and he truly wants to make sure that every cyclist, regardless of their experience or ability, enjoys their time on the trail. We had a 7yr old in our group who biked under her own steam for 50 of the 150 miles, and she can't wait to do it again next year! I highly recommend you check out 2WE if you're considering riding the GAP or the C&O Canal.
