My rating is really a 2.5 of this tour but the Trip Advisor rating system doesn't allow for this. We purchased the 2 day pass but didn't use it the 2nd day. The reason....1) you wait forever (30-60 minutes which is wasted touring time) for a bus (whose air conditioning probably won't work - 2/3 didn't work during our tour at the end of May), 2) pre-recorded audio doesn't work well (if at all) and isn't loud enough), 3) those busses with "live" audio aren't loud enough - especially if you sit on the top tier. Once we finally got on the red line (via the blue one closest to our hotel) we decided to ride the entire red loop to see the sites first. We were forced to trade (or switch) busses we arrive at Union Station AND waited for an additional 10 minutes after that.....more wasted time. We will never purchase these again. You can travel to/from sites much cheaper and quicker using either 1) the metro, 2) the circulator (which was free during our stay and they stopped at most of the same places as did the red line tour HOWEVER the circulator had busses arrive in 10 minute increments rather than 30+ of this particular company) or 3) use Uber or Lyft drivers. We chose the latter. They took us to convenient stops where we could stay as long as we wanted. If you can handle walking these other options are much better as you can see more sites, do more things AND actually spend a lot less $$$.

Hello Valuable Customer, We're sorry you had a bad experience with our tours. Its unfortunate you weren't able to use both days on our tour. We recommend that when using a 2-day package use the first day to ride the tour for the full duration. therefor, on the second day you will have a better understanding of how our buses operate and plan a day trip accordingly. Our frequencies are every 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic. Here in our nations capitol we have a lot of it. Also, some of are buses are European made which is why they do not have AC. My son and I were in Washington and decided to do the Hop on Hop off, it was great, the staff was friendly. We got to use the $50 pass for 2.5 days. I left my phone on the bus and they were so helpful; I got it back later that day but they assured me right away they got it. We had Nor as our guide and he was very friendly and informative and remembered my son when we got on again the next day.

We rode on both the blue and red loops. It is a great way to see the sights even if you just ride the whole route and never get off. Some of the buses are better than others, but we particularly enjoyed our ride with driver JJ! He was so friendly! Our guide Pamela on the red loop was amazing! We had one bus break down completely and they took care of us well for the trouble. I cannot say enough about the kindness of Terri T!
