During this approx 2 -hour snorkeling tour with a knowledgeable guide, watch these extraordinary creatures feed on plentiful plankton attracted by underwater lights. With wingspans that can reach more than 20 feet (6 meters) across, manta rays have no teeth or barb on the tail. Chris & Budha were great! We saw 10 to 12 Manta rays immediately when we got in the water. They make a good team witty & funny. They knew their stuff!

This was both an incredibly amazing experience and incredibly uncomfortable. Finding the loading area is a little tricky - don't go all the way into the marina. Instead, turn right soon after you get on the marina road and make your way to the far back side. (We did receive a text beforehand with a map and a photo which were very helpful!) We received wetsuits (long sleeves, short legs) and snorkels which worked great. The crew was very informative and helpful. I have snorkeled on occasion, but jumping into what I was afraid was going to be cold water at night, swimming to a paddle board, holding on and keeping my body straight with the help of a noodle was intimidating to think about. The staff were very helpful and accommodating to people of all skill levels. The wetsuit kept me from getting too cold. I did find it all very uncomfortable, but the experience of having giant manta rays swim right below, doing backflips, and almost touching me was amazing and totally made up for being uncomfortable. I appreciated the hard rule of not touching the mantas for their protection. I am glad I did this! Definitely bring a towel and warm clothes for the boat ride back. There's a ledge under the seat for storage. Talk about uncomfortable, the boat ride back over choppy water was cold even with warm clothes and could not end soon enough. A number of people on our boat threw up from seasickness. I wasn't one of them, but easily could have been! Taking the cold soda offered helped the nausea. I don't know that I would do this again, but I am glad I did it this once. The mantas are really beautiful. It's an incredible experience.

Aloha Jill, I could see where this may be an uncomfortable trip for those in which it may be out of their comfort zone. My own mother was the same way. Most of the time we have absolutely beautiful waters on the Kona side of the Big Island but when the winds are hitting a certain direction it can make for a bumpy ride back. On the vouchers, we recommend people that are prone to getting sea sick to take bonine or dramamine. Glad you joined us and got to see the majestic manta rays :)
