This was an excellent tour that brought home the true horrors of the ongoing fight for racial equality in the USA. From 16th Street Baptist Church where four young girls were murdered by the Ku Klux Klan who bombed the church in 1963, to the visit to the district where Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth lived and Black Panther Angela Davis grew up, this was an enlightening and emotional tour. The trail of the Freedom Riders and the spot where water cannons were turned on school children, ripping skin off their bodies, was all included as was so much more. Our guide Mike was insightful, witty and honest. It was well worth the price and I totally recommend. The next day I returned to visit the 16th Street Baptist Church and the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. These were both phenomenal too.
