I've been on many headboats, blue fish charters, party boats, drift boats, etc, and my experience on the Blue Herron on 3/15/19 was by far the worst fishing experience of my life. The boat was half full and we fished only one side. I completely understand that tangles will happen with person or persons next to you, but no way someone in the back of the boat should tangle with everyone 3/4 of the way up to the front - especially without a fish on
The crew was great, upbeat and positive, and worked hard for everyone. I was a bit puzzled why they instructed everyone to let out 3/4 of the reel, which was well over 100 yards, which only compounded every tangle.
I realize the seas were a little bit rough, but perhaps they should have bypassed the day knowing what lied ahead.
Finally, I had my 77 year old father scheduled to go with us. But with bad knees and the seas a bit rough, we left him home. When I arrived to pickup my prepaid tickets, I was going to sell his ticket to a walk up customer. The gentlemen in the ticket office told me not to worry about it, he would credit the one ticket (out of 3 purchased) as soon as the boat departed. This never happened, follow up calls were not returned, and email contact via the website was not responded to.
All in all, very disappointing as I had such high expectations. More fun was had, and more fish were caught, fishing off of the Juno pier.
