We joined Allison for a food tour of Boston's North End. It was an outstanding tour, far better than we expected! We met at a very convenient location in downtown Boston and took a stroll to the waterfront, where she gave us some historical background. We then headed for the North End, where we began the food tour. Going with the motto, "life is short, start with desert", we went to Caffe Victoria for cannolis and cappuccinos. The cannolis were unbelievable, hands down the best we've ever had! We have heard a lot of rave reviews about two nearby pastry shops that sell cannolis, but there is no way they can compare!!
We also went to Salumeria for Italiano sandwiches and Ernesto's for pizza, both of which were very tasty. Additionally, we went to Bricco Paneterria for bread/pastry. This Italian store was full of delicious food!
The real star of the tour was Allison! She was very engaged, and engaging, throughout the tour. She discussed local and national history as it related to Boston's North End not, only as we walked along the Freedom Trail, but throughout the tour. If we return to Boston, the first thing we will book will be another tour with her. We cannot say how pleased we were with this experience, mainly thanks to Allison!
