Alexandria, Virginia sits just across the river from DC but Old Town feels far removed with its cobblestone streets and charming rowhomes. When visiting DC, we always suggest that people take the time to explore this little nearby gem!

Enjoy tastings from locally-owned restaurants which contribute to the story we share. Along the way we will visit a classic spot that has been a mainstay for over 40 years; a restaurant with award-winning dishes, and classic bistro with European roots.

Explore the pretty streetscapes, the waterfront, public art pieces, and the architecture while you learn about the evolution of this small city. From the Civil War to Civil Rights to present day, Old Town has played an instrumental part in this country’s history. Come and get a taste of history.

A portion of each ticket sale is donated to Bread For The City, an organization who provides food, clothing, medical care, and legal and social services to reduce the burden of poverty for DC residents.

Waterfront Park

Alexandria's newest park sits at the end of King Street and features temporary public art installations, the first of which is an interactive, responsive work. The art responds to sound with illuminated color, bathing visitors in rainbow-hued light as they talk, sing, and play within the installation.

Great tour of Old Town Alexandria. Food was delicious and they offered good portions. One of the best I've experienced.

We travel for business 2-4 times a year and always book 1 or more food tours. We have greatly enjoyed every tour we've booked thru Viator until this one. Although very nice, the tour guide seemed a bit disorganized and inattentive to details at food stops which left us having to ask for silverware, beverage, etc. The tour went long so that we were only able to eat at 3 of the 5 scheduled stops. The ribs and craft beer offered at our 2nd stop was fabulous, the other two were not. There was too much walking without any kind of interest between stops and the time at the food stops seemed rushed. Old Town Alexandria is quite beautiful yet we either passed by "points of interest" without any input from the guide or looked from afar during other "points of interest". The tour is fairly new so hopefully modifications will be made to make it more enjoyable.

We had a great tour with Sara as our tour guide. This is a great way to see and learn about Old Town, and to taste some of the local fare. We ended up returning to Union Street for dinner the next night and to Nice Cream (again) for dessert!
