We had four days planned in NYC and this was the event we were looking forward to the most. Unfortunately, it started off TERRIBLY. Our Uber driver dropped us off at the wrong place and left. We didn't know we were in the wrong place and started checking random side doors as we knew from reviews it was a random entrance. We called the studio and told them where we were and waited for another Uber to get us there. We were a half hour late at this point. I wanted to cry. We were greeted by Leaf, our teacher for the lesson and honestly the rest felt like magic.....
We were soooo late but he gave us such a wonderful experience with the time we had left. He was so chill and instantly had my kids comfortable and invested in the whole thing. His vibe brought my anxiety down which was such a gift. We left with a serious masterpiece to hang, an unforgettable memory, and a bonus confidence boost for my two artists. My only regret is not taking more photos.
Also - if you are staying in Manhattan and think Brooklyn seems too far - I'll tell you what we did. We spent half the day in Brooklyn exploring the street art after our lesson and having lunch. Thanks to Leaf's suggestion, we had a great lunch at a nearby caribbean takeaway place. Then we took an uber to DUMBO until sunset and grabbed the ferry back to Manhattan. The sunset views from the ferry - that goes under the Brooklyn Bridge - they can't be beat.
