This tour explores the backcountry of Canyonlands National Park (Island in the Sky District) in approximately 4 hours. You will ride along in one of our 4x4 backcountry vehicles with heat and a/c for optimal comfort during all seasons.

Throughout this half day experience you will learn all about the parks, history, and geology of the Moab area. Your guide will point out Arch formations, and other towering landscapes along the way. Since our tours are private we can stop for photos at any point.

Sight seeing areas on this tour include but are not limited to Potash Mine, Shafer Trail, Musselman Arch, Ancient Indian Petroglyphs (Rock Carvings), Thelma and Louise point, and breathtaking canyon views. This tour will include both pavement sections and 4x4 road sections that are not paved.

Water and snacks are always provided for free.

Canyonlands National Park

You do not need a reservation or an entry ticket for this tour. The price is all inclusive. Folks visiting the parks on their own typically only see what is along side the pavement road - this tour will venture into the 4x4 backcountry for an exquisite and unique National Park experience. Our family of 4, including 2 young children, thoroughly enjoyed our Canyonlands backcountry 4x4 tour yesterday. Dave L was an excellent guide. He was knowledgeable about the area and provided us with lots of interesting facts and pointed out cool little details. He proposed interesting photography shots and was open to stopping for any pictures we wanted to take along the way. He was great with our kids and most importantly, we felt safe, especially on the narrow roads of the White Rim Trail and Shafer switchbacks. We loved how remote the park felt and enjoyed the views, geological features and the deafening quiet! We would definitely book again.

A group a friends and myself did a tour with Moab Scenic Adventures with pure tour guide, Dave. Dave was the best tour guide ever experience. He has an awesome personality, very humorous, and extremely humble. He was very very accommodating towards us and took our guide to another level. He showed us as much as he was able to in the time frame. He took extra miles to show us things he knew we would enjoy just by our conversations during the tour. He takes much pride and joy into showing people what Moab, Utah is really about. He was very well educated on the geographic area and the history of Utah and different canyons and trails. Not to mention this patience with our frequent bathroom breaks (group of 5 girls) and multiple photo shoots he did for us (LOL). He really made our experience the best experience and we will never forget him or the tour! We highly recommend booking tours with Moab Scenic Adventures and ask for Dave!!!!!

Our guide, Dominic, was so knowledgeable and patient. We had a group of 7 (3 kids ages 6,8, and 10). We opted for an enclosed tour in a Suburban (they mostly have fun looking open air 4x4’s). We got to see parts of Canyonlands that most people don’t. Highly recommend this if you have the time.
