The ferry, which is really a big boat, is pretty nice. Lots of seating, nice bar with drinks and limited snacks. They take your large luggage as you walk in and store it. Then you swing by and get it on the way out. Boarding was smooth. It has ramps which is easier with luggage. I looked back to be sure my older mom was ok on the ramp as it was a little steeper on Catalina. I saw a worker notice her and take her bag for her.
You can walk around while going. It takes a little over an hour. We learned that there’s a helicopter option that takes 15 mins for $180 each way. I wish!
A long line does form and they want you there 30 mins early. There’s plenty of seating so don’t feel you have to be toward the front. Neither ports have shade and it doesn’t always load up on time and the “first class” people go on first.
It’s quite comfortable riding inside or you can go up top where it’s open. Great big windows to view the never-ending sea.
