This is the. Best. Thing. We. Did. In. Seattle. Chef Shaun (Sean?) was our tour guide, a fascinating and amusing mountain man with a great deal of knowledge about the market, the foods sold there and the people selling it. We particularly appreciated how much he celebrated all the different cultural influences there, it was a great way to learn about the history of Seattle. He also introduced us to the people who worked there and made us feel like we knew them, even taking the time to tell us about the people who ran places that were closed, or not on the tour. His enthusiasm for Pike Place Market was infectious and I think it'd be hard to come away from this tour without a new appreciation for Seattle's most famous marketplace.
My only regret was doing this at the end of my nine day trip to Seattle, instead of on day one, as we were unable to try out many of the restaurants, or visit most of the places that Chef Shaun recommended. That's obviously entirely on us, but I'm posting this here to let people know, this should be your first port of call if you're new to Seattle. Take this tour, pay attention and you will always have new and exciting things to try on your journey. Not to mention, if you do this first, you will get discounts at many places, which means it can wind up paying for itself.

Thank you for this amazing recap. This is Sean's last week for the year (don't worry, he will be back next year) and I know he is beaming reading your appreciation. Thank you for paying attention and absorbing all the wonderful interworking of our Pike Place Market community.
