The Medieval Torture Museum is the quintessential tourist trap. It is located in the middle of a heavily-trafficked street in a tourist town. It has nothing to do with St. Augustine. There are no artifacts here - it’s a collection of reproduction torture devices and ghoulish victim casts designed to attract the tourist bait rather than a museum with items someone might seek out. It’s pricey at $20, though admission includes the miniature masterpieces exhibit, too. That being said, it’s transparently a tourist trap attraction and delivers exactly what it promises - a lot of creepy torture imagery and an audio narrator who enjoys human suffering far too much. I only visited because it’s conveniently open late, so I wasn’t skipping something else to visit, and what are vacations for other than to spend your money on such frivolities?
