We had “Capt. Pete” who did a great job with local and gulla history without coming off as patronizing or being constantly on “talk” and bombarding you with info. It was a relaxed 4 1/2 hour trip with about an hour each way getting out to the Island. The board is covered but open on the sides and ends, so you’ll get wind and some rain if that’s happening, so dress accordingly. Mosquitos are heavy on the island, and although they bring some spray, you may want some of your own as well. They offer apples, water and granola bars on the boat free of charge and you can buy some coffee at a stop with restrooms about 2 to 2 1/2 hours in. Overall, a great way to spend half a day, get out on the water and learn about SC’s Gulla and other local history.
