I've been on the Daufuskie tour with Capt. Pete 4 times now and I will be going again and highly recommend it. He does shares similar information each time, because it's important, relevant and factual information. He has a strong respect for the island and the people on it, as well as its history. He takes time to listen and answer questions and is friendly and kind. The tour itself consists of a beautiful hour and a half-long boat ride and about an hour on the island on a golf cart and never feels rushed to me It focuses on the non-affluent part of the island and has stops at a historical church, school, cemetery, homes and people and a couple of stores (which vary depending on the time of year). He's not joking when he talks about the coffee at the old school house - get yourself a cup!
Food is allowed on the boat, so if hunger is a concern, feel free to bring a backpack with snacks or a small cooler. There are bathrooms at both docks (on Hilton Head and on Daufuskie), but none on the boat. Be sure to bring layers of clothing, as the ride can be a bit chilly depending on weather and time of day.
