Loved walking around RiNo checking out the blend of old and new architecture, as well as the overflow of creativity in the form of street art. As a Denver native who is intimately familiar with this area, I am totally inspired by the energy being re-infused into this historic neighborhood.
That said, I found the overly political and negatively slanted script of our guide Kaitlyn to be incredibly annoying. Her overuse of the word gentrification and the repeated message of the plight of the people of Five Points and the objectification of the artists (disparity in pay, discrimination against women artists, etc) became offensive. Such a total downer at every turn. It was clearly the entire focus.
There was no uplifting message relayed whatsoever on this tour and I found it odd that we ONLY stopped at murals where she could spread her bizarre dark-cloud agenda.
I love art in all forms and seek it out whenever possible, but I would not recommend this tour. In fact, a self-guided tour would have been much more enjoyable than the cringeworthy 2 hours of preaching.
