We booked a combo trip w/ Haines instead of taking an excursion offered by the cruise boat. Andy handled the float trip expertly and kept up an informative commentary the whole time. We saw a bunch of eagles and managed to get some really good pictures - up pretty close and personal. After the float and the included snack (love the local smoked salmon), Andy hooked us up w/ Drake for a flightseeing trip. Drake was as enthusiastic as we were. We flew over the east arm of Glacier Bay for a view of icefields and glaciers from the air. We had seen them from the cruise ship the day before, but this really gave us a new appreciation for the extensiveness of the ice. The sky was very clear and Drake lined us up for some wonderful photos. This was a pretty expensive outing by our standards. But it was a better deal that the cruise excursions and we certainly got our moneys worth. We highly recommend the Haines combo trip.

We had two rafts, and the guides were both excellent. One we had for the bus ride from Haines to the Preserve, and the other we had on the raft. Can't remember their names, but the girl was outstanding as a raft guide and she kept us afloat through an amazing ride. We saw several eagles along the way, even though it wasn't salmon running season, and we enjoyed the entire tour. This perserve was on my bucket list to observe, and I wasn't disappointed.

Amazing tour.. Great guide..very knowledgeable. Liked the fact that it was a family business. Took that extra step to make you feel comfortable.
