Explore San Diego Tide Pools with a Marine Biologist

Adventure with a marine biology educator along the coast and learn more about wildlife living in the intertidal zone of San Diego. Great for all ages and skill levels. There are some stairs and lots of uneven terrain we will walk on, so this is not a wheelchair-friendly activity.

I taught middle and high school marine biology for more than a decade before committing to environmental tourism! With fifteen years of teaching youth and adults in outdoor education settings, plus my background in conservation biology, provides guests with in-depth (pun intended) knowledge of marine life during our tide pool exploration.

Groups are kept small (10 people maximum, with exceptions for private groups/families) which makes this a more intimate and personal experience.

Matt is fantastic! We had an awesome time! He is informative, knowledgeable, friendly, and funny. Amazing with our kids! He even does a Google album of photos. It was great to have photos of our whole family. I highly recommend Matt!

This tide pool adventure was so much fun! Matt was very knowledgeable and knew exactly where to look to find all kinds of interesting creatures. He knew how to act with all of the kids from 1st grade to teenagers, and asked them questions to get them to think about why the animals behaved certain ways. Everyone agreed, one of the highlights of our trip to San Diego!

I can’t think of a better word to describe this experience than WOW!!! Matt was an incredible guide during our tide pool experience. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about marine biology. He taught marine biology for 17 years and you can tell. He is able to connect with children and adults alike. I cannot wait to come back and tour with him again. I was thrilled at the amount of sea animals and sea vegetation that we saw and learned about. And he provided photos of all of things we saw.
