I recently took on the Top Gun experience at Sky Combat Ace in San Diego. I was lucky enough to meet "Tex" the founder, and ace pilot and his awesome wife "Red Rose". I have to admit I was nervous all day. I was worried I was going to pass out or throw up during the flight. We were met by "Red Rose" and taken to the hangar which was not like a hangar at all. They have it set up so nice. Couches, chairs, music, drinks and snacks. After a brief safety video and some pictures we were ready to go. I was the last flight of the day. "Tex" didn't mess around. Right from take off it was more than I expected. Straight up then upside down for a bit just to get the blood to your head. Once over the mountains he got right into the stunts. He did a great job explaining what he was doing each time then talked me through how to do it myself. At first I thought he was doing it the whole time but the slightest move of the stick would jolt the plane. I didn't feel like throwing up once. He did bring us out of a stunt at about 8 Gs and I experienced tunnel vision and a little more I probably would have blacked out. Next time. After all the flips and rollovers this guy got crazy! He started whipping around the mountains so close I thought the tip of the wing was about ten feet from the rocks. We then did a simulated bomb run over a lake and "Tex", being ex air force pilot, made it as real as possible. We ended the flight with a hard turn and landing onto the runway. From start to finish this was a huge adrenaline rush that I hope I can do again next year. "Tex" and "Red Rose" are so nice they make you feel like a long time friend and are genuinely excited to see everyone have an awesome experience. This is something I will be telling friends and family about for a long time (they will probably get sick of it).
Highly recommended!!
