I booked the half day Foothills tour with Aspire Tours, as it was a highly recommended tour company by the staff at The Indigo Hotel where I was staying. I met the tour at the flag pole infront of Union Station at 9am. Many of us had booked other tours with Aspire (they offer a large selection to satisfy all tastes). We were split into smaller groups, and myself, and about 8 other people, were put with Alyce Olson's tour.
Alyce is a very accomplished tour guide with many years under her belt. She had a wealth of knowledge about not just Denver, but the surrounding area. She drove our very comfortable mid-size Mercedes van expertly, and chatted about life in Denver as she drove. We were also joined by 'trainee' Kyle on the tour, who also contributed to our enjoyable experience with stories and facts about the area.
The weather was amazing - sunny with blue skies. This just made the surrounding sights all the more beautiful. Loved our stop at Red Rocks, though I would have liked a further 15 minutes to further enjoy the video about the building of the park in the extensive museum on the site. Our scenery was lovely as we drove up to Evergreen for another brief stop. After that we made a short 10 minute stop at the side of the highway as Alyce saw a large hurd of buffalo in a nearby field. We then headed up to Lookout Point for some gorgeous views of Golden, Denver and the surrounding park and area. Some of us visited Buffalo Bill's grave, the souvenir store on-site and cafe. There were plenty of opportunities for washroom breaks, eating and gift buying while on the trip .
A very enjoyable day. I am glad I took in the sights with this Aspire tour, and can't wait to go back again and try another tour. Perhaps Boulder this time!
