Jon was our guide for the 1.5 hour tour along the Riverwalk. If you haven't been here, the actual meeting place is BEHIND the Historical Society building with the 219 address. Just a loading dock there but Jon pops out and brings the Segways from inside. First thing Jon does is train you how to ride safely. It might seem imposing at first, but you quickly catch on to the controls. Once he feels you are comfortable (or at least LOOK comfortable), off you go at a slow pace until your comfort level does catch up. Yes there are some pedestrians on the path, but they give you a wide berth and you have by now mastered the maneuvers to turn and slow down safely.
The tour takes you over a footbridge which means uphill and downhill. The latter is a bit more challenging at first, but it's easy to control the Segway so no problems here. Jon will stop at spots along the way to explain points of interest and regroup the stragglers, and if you seem competent he may even get you a straightaway to test out top speed of about 12 mph.
This was a great way to spend the morning and Jon makes it even better.
