Overall, this was a pretty disappointing experience. Given that this company has 5 stars and they say to book in advance, I thought it would be a really popular, well-run tour. I booked an 8:00 PM tour through Trip Advisor for myself, but since I was literally the only person who wanted to book a tour at any time on that particular night, they had to reschedule me to a 6:00 PM tour on a different day. Fine. Not the company's fault. However, they charge more for a night tour, and 6:00 PM in April in Florida is not night time. I needed sunglasses for the entire ride, so what exactly was the extra $10 for?
I've done tons of walking and small vehicle tours before, so I figured there would be a designated meeting spot where we could talk to the instructor and each other beforehand. I arrived 10 minutes early, and there wasn't a soul in sight. After 5 minutes I called the company to make sure the tour was still on, because the building looked abandoned and there was no one else around. The instructor came out at 6:00 PM, had me sign the waiver, told me the rest of the group would be coming at 6:15, then went back inside. Okay... Not the company's fault, again, but now I'm getting pretty annoyed.
We ended up starting around 6:20, but we got through the training pretty quickly. I think we got the full hour for the tour (though I'm not 100% sure). The tour itself was very lackluster. We went around the river looking at mansions. That was it. We also took a break in a dog park, which was probably the highlight of the tour for me, because who doesn't like playing with dogs? Riding the Segway itself was very fun, but it didn't feel like a tour, so much as simply riding a Segway for an hour.
Maybe I'm being too harsh, but I can't see how this is a 4 or 5 star experience in any sense of the word.
